Sometimes the church gets a bad rap. After 20+ years of ministry, this really bugs me no end. I know we can have our problems. The truth is that 99% of them are self inflicted. If we just learned to speak kindly or be patient with life we would be amazed how many troubles go away. We should try to learn how to celebrate the good things that happen. For example, last Sunday we raised about $1400 for our girls to go to camp this summer. That's pretty awesome if you ask me. We also added another new member last Sunday. We should be grateful to God that He entrusts new people to us. Last night, we prayed with hurting hearts about many of our own who are struggling with horrendous illnesses. I hope you are keeping the entire Jones family very close to your heart when you pray. I know I am praying almost every hour for them in this time of grief. This Sunday we will have our usual services in the morning and then have a fun time of "singin and eatin" on Sunday night. There ARE good things going on here at the church. Its not a question of if good things are happening, but it is whether or not you are choosing to let them happen to you?

We are now about 24 hours into this blogging thing. To be honest, Ive just sat back and stared a few times at this creation. It sure seems difficult to just dive into new technology. Perhaps even at 44 years of age I am used to "how things are." Over the last few months this blog has been on my mind. Finally last night, I chose to take the plunge. Is it no wonder we still have well meaning believers who are slow to take in what God may want to do in today's world? How many of us want a 2oth century God in a 21st century world? Our concept of faith is in how things "are" versus where God may want us to go. Yes, our core theology is a given in scripture. But God's activity is dynamic, not static or stale. I can only hope I can be more open to His presence than I was to the possibility of a blog.

Welcome! This is a brand new adventure for all of us. I've never blogged before and I am reasonably sure our church has never had its own blog. The name of the blog is fbctatumstuff simply because its the best definition for it. I have no idea what all can be done with a blog but I'm about to find out. I imagine we will use this for announcements, prayer requests, devotional thoughts and tons more. Hopefully in time we can all become used to coming here to learn something new. Who knows? We may get to add stuff daily or more! Perhaps it is time we joined the 21st century with its technology. I believe we can do some amazing stuff here at this site. There is no way to find out but to try. There is no better time to start than the present. Let me know how you like it.
